HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOU - ALL 3 OF YOU - PRINCIPLES OF VICTORY IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE - Part VII

Imagine fighting an enemy whom you cannot see. Worst yet, an enemy who does not even appear to be an enemy. Self can hide and be disguised as a friend who is only interested in our happiness while at the same time enslaving us to degrading habits. Many speak of victory but very few attempt victory over self. No man or woman or child can expect to have victory over his or herself without understanding something about the nature of man. The nature of human beings is threefold. When Adam came from the Creator's hand, he bore, in his physical, mental, and spiritual nature, a likeness to his Maker. This helps us to see the three areas where human beings need to experience victory in their lives in order to be able to enjoy heaven and be trusted there. In the Bible, Christ makes plain that Self is to be crucified, not now and then, but daily, and the physical, mental, and spiritual must be subordinate to the will of God. Here are a list of some basic mental and physical principles which affect our ability to know God and to have the mastery of ourselves through faith in Jesus Christ.

THE PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE

The health of the body is to be regarded as essential for growth in grace and the acquirement of an even temper. If the stomach is not properly cared for, the formation of an upright, moral character will be hindered.
The brain and nerves are in sympathy with the stomach.

Erroneous eating and drinking result in erroneous thinking and acting.

Recklessness in physical habits tends to recklessness in morals

Right physical habits promote mental superiority.

The spiritual experience is greatly affected by the way in which
the stomach is treated.

Anything that lessens physical strength enfeebles the mind and makes it less capable of discriminating between right and wrong. We become less capable of choosing the good and have less strength of will to do
that which we know to be right.

The condition of the health has its influence upon the spiritual life, and may be discerned by the words, the tone of voice, and by the pleasant and unpleasant atmosphere
that surrounds each soul.

Habits which lower the standard of physical health, enfeeble the mental and moral strength.

If our physical habits are not right, our mental and moral powers cannot be strong; for great sympathy exists between the physical and the moral.

References: 1 Corinthians 10:31/Philippians 3:18,19/Ecclesiastes 10:17/Romans 16:18/Proverbs 23:20/Matthew 24:48-50/Luke 21:34/Daniel 1:11-20

THE MENTAL EXPERIENCE

All our actions, good or bad, have their source in the mind.

The moral and vigorous action of the higher powers of the mind is essential to the perfection of Christian character.

Perfection of character is attained through exercise of the faculties of the mind, in times of supreme test, by obedience to every requirement of God's law.

The mental and moral powers which God has given us do not constitute character. They are talents which we are to improve and which, if properly improved, will form a right character.

All who are fitted for usefulness must be trained by the severest mental and moral discipline, and God will assist them by uniting divine power with human effort.

The warfare in which we are engaged is largely mental, and the mind that is the most thoroughly trained will do the most acceptable work.

Natural and mental resources come alone from a knowledge of the laws which God has established in nature and in our own human structure, and obedience to these laws must be observed, or our lives will prove a failure.

He who created the mind and ordained its laws, provided for its development
in accordance with them.

Every sinful gratification tends to benumb the faculties and deaden the mental and spiritual perceptions, and the Word or the Spirit of God can make but a feeble impression upon the heart.

True religion unfolds and calls out the mental energies. Conviction and repentance of sin, renunciation of self, and trust in the merits of the blood of Christ cannot be experienced without the individual being made more thoughtful, more intellectual, than he (or she) was before.

A sanctified heart quickens and intensifies the mental powers.

The proper cultivation of the mental powers makes man all that he is. These ennobling faculties are given to aid in forming character for the future, immortal life. Man was created for a higher, holier state of enjoyment than this world can afford. He was made in the image of God for high and noble purposes, such as engage the attention of angels

References: Philippians 4:8,2:5/Proverbs 12:5,16:3,21:5/2 Timothy 1:7/Mark 7:21-23/Psalms 10:4,94:19/Genesis 6:5/2 Corinthians 10:5/Ephesians 4:23/Romans 12:2/Matthew 22:37/

According to the Bible, therefore, it is very important that we do the best we can to take care of our minds and bodies not just for mere existence in this world but for the development of a Christlike character to live in the future in an eternal world with God our heavenly Father. A Christlike character is the only kind of character that could enjoy heaven and a Christlike character is the only kind of charcter that could be trusted in heaven. Character can not be changed after we die nor at the return of Christ. The present life that we now live is our only opportunity to become Christlike in character. Especially should we guard carefully our minds with a spiritual filter to block un-Christlike thoughts, ideas and philosophies from gaining access and taking up a permanent residence there. We will look at the spiritual experience in another post.

ASTHMA - THE BREATH-TAKER DEFEATED BY HEALTH PRINCIPLES - Health Instead of Disease Series #5

I remember that when I was younger, I often had to be rushed to the hospital for severe asthma attacks. I don't have asthma now but I can certainly sympathize with those who do. Asthma is a debilitating illness that literally leaves a person breathless. This is a condition in which the small bronchial airways temporarily constrict, so that it is difficult to exhale. This leads to breathlessness and wheezing. This disease is no different than most all others which come as a result of the violations of the laws of health. A regular diet that consists of refined foods like toasted white bread, bacon, coffee with cream and sugar for breakfast; and white bread, white rice, beef, chicken, noodles, cheese, cookies, cake or pies for the other two meals will cause mucous and acid to form in the body. The excess mucous is really what causes the difficult breathing and dairy products (milk, cheese) especially, tend to increase the amount of mucous in the body. Current medical prescriptions are for inhalers which dispense drug medication and are given to those prone to severe attacks. If the mucous is eliminated from the system and the lifestyle habits are changed, relief may be obtained without the aid of drug medication.

In the book of Revelation in the Bible, the word sorceries comes from the greek word - pharmakeia. The word pharmakeia is where we get our word pharmacy from. Here is the entry in the Strong's Bible concordance.

Strong's number 5331 // farmakeia // pharmakeia // far-mak-i'-ah //

from 5332 ; n f
AV - sorcery 2, witchcraft 1; 3

1) the use or the administering of drugs
2) poisoning

According to the Bible, in the last days, many people will be deceived and poisoned by a modern form of sorcery called drug medication. Instead of addressing the actual cause of illness, drug medications treat symptoms.

Since disease results from violating the laws of health, it is very important that everyone know and understand the laws of health and strive by the grace of God to live in harmony with them.

These 8 laws may be found detailed at

Any person who examines these laws will quickly recognize the lifestyle habits which he or she has adopted that are contributing to disease. This is the first step towards identifying the cause of disease and making an effective treatment possible.

3 STEPS TO BE TAKEN FOR THE RESTORATION OF HEALTH.

1. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained.

2. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected.

3. Then nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system.

NATURAL TREATMENT AND CURE OF ASTHMA BY THE BODY'S OWN MECHANISMS

1. ASCERTAIN THE CAUSE

Excessive amounts of mucus resulting from a high-acid and toxic condition of the blood. Inflammation due to infection or toxin with spasms of the bronchiole tubes are typical. The lung irritation caused by accumulated mucus also means that the lungs are more likely to be easily affected by food allergies and chemicals. This could result in inflammatory swellings of the bronchial tubes. Mucus accumulating in the lungs allows bacteria to infiltrate. Some strains of these bacteria convert sugars into alginic acid, another sticky mucus. Candida or other fungus, if present, will sensitize the mucous membranes to airborne molds. The mucous membranes of asthmatics, which are highly sensitized by mucic acid, exhibit strong reaction to air pollutants such as smoke, pollen and sulfur dioxide. The adrenal glands are weakened and the histamine levels are high because of all the sugary foods and tendency to allergy. Poor nutrition habits and a nervous condition due to irritated nerves will often also contribute to asthma.

2. CORRECT WRONG HABITS - CHANGE UNHEALTHFUL CONDITIONS

Avoid all hydrogenated oils, margarine, shortening, greases, and fried foods. Omit all animal products meat, milk, cheese, eggs, butter, yogurt, ice cream. Especially avoid dairy products. (email for alternate diet or food suggestions)

Especially should objectionable meats such as shrimp, pork, ham, bacon, sausage, hot dogs, hamburger, canned meat spreads, pressed meats, and canned composite meats such as Spam, be permanently eliminated. Do not use white bread, buns, melba toast, crackers and saltines, cakes, cookies, white macaroni, spaghetti, white rice, corn meal, cream of wheat, and other refined grain products.

Don't drink or take in sodas, coffees, caffeinated teas, (drug medications) or chocolate. May use non-caffeinated herb teas and cereal beverages. Crackers, cakes and cookies are unhealthful when made with baking soda or powder, eggs, milk, shortening, artificial flavorings and colorings and sugar. Overcome constipation. If you eat 2 meals per day - you should have at least 2 bowel movements per day. Anything less is constipation. Increase fiber and water intake.

3. ASSIST THE BODY TO HEAL ITSELF

The goal is to help the body eliminate the accumulated mucus and heal any infections which may have developed.

LEARN THE 8 LAWS OF HEALTH FIRST AND OBEY THEM -

Drink 2 to 3 quarts of water daily. Vitamin C (ascorbate form not ascorbic acid) 1000 mg. per hour for 10 hours per day for 3 days. Vitamin E - 600 IU daily. Take a cool bath in the morning. Take a steam bath or a vapor bath once daily using peppermint oil in the vapor bath. Rub peppermint oil over the chest.

Mullein oil is a worthwhile remedy for bronchial congestion. It will stop coughs because it unclogs bronchial tubes. When taken with water or fruit juice, the effect is even more rapid.

Avoid devitalized, demineralized and processed junk food, and do not use nicotine, alcohol, or caffeine. Do not use chocolate, fish, eggs, and other common allergy sensitive foods. Avoid foods containing additives. Go on a juice fast, 3 days each month, of distilled water and lemon juice, to help clean out the body of toxins and mucous.

Plenty of outdoor exercise like walking and good ventilation throughout the home. Hiking and swimming are also good exercises to improve the health. You need to build up your lung capacity and utilization. This will strengthen your entire respiratory tract. A person at rest uses only 10% of his lung capacity; hard work increases it to about 50%.

Get rid of the dust and dust mites in your bed, cushions, rugs, and floor. Avoid goose feathers (pillows and down coats). Dead cockroaches also produce a dust which can trigger an attack. Avoid plants which may have mold spores and mold in the bathroom should be eliminated.

Herbs - Specific herbs to help eliminate the mucus and tone up the body.

Chickweed, comfrey, marshmallow, mullein, lobelia are all of great healing benefit to the respiratory system and aid in the elimination of mucus. Combining them must be done part for part. In other words – 1 tsp of mullein means 1 tsp of all the rest.

ASTHMA ATTACK - Pouring cold water on the back of the neck is useful. As the person bends over, the water is poured on the back of the neck from a container holding about a gallon of water. From about 24 inches above the neck, pour it for about 30-90 seconds. Do this 3 times a day during the critical phase.

ROUGH TREATMENT – Most all of the mucus can be eliminated through vomiting in about 24 hours but electrolytes would need to be replaced. (Sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium). Email for help with this treatment. After blending a clove of garlic in a cup of water, drink it. This may be vomited back out, loosening the phlegm. If vomited, give another cup.

Lobelia is an herb that, when sipped slowly, relaxes the nerves and tends to stop the spasm. (If you drinks lots of it and drink it too fast, it will have a different effect and cause vomiting.)

Combine one cup of honey, ½ tsp. of cayenne pepper, 3 oz. of fresh lemon juice, ½ tsp. of peppermint oil, 2 bulbs of blended garlic, 2 bulbs of blended onions, 2 oz. of horseradish and ½ cup honey crystals. Mix and take ½ tsp. as needed.

Additional Supplements:

Vitamin B6 25mg twice a day

Vitamin B12 1,00 mcg a day

Vitamin E 400 international units per day

Selenium 250 mcg a day

Pray and ask God to change your heart and then for strength and grace to change your lifestyle. Ask Him to forgive you for breaking His mental, physical and moral laws and living a selfish life. Invite Jesus Christ to be Lord of your life and cause you to receive new motives, new desires and new purposes.

CHALLENGE - Try all the above for 10 days and see if there is not a significant improvement

The use of herbs should complement obedience to the 8 laws of health. More information about this at www.issues-of-life.com under health issues.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN - 12 KEYS TO HIS HEART - Marriage Counseling With The Wonderful Counselor - Part XVI

Do good character qualities come from television shows or movies ? Not according to God. While there are occasional portrayals of moral goodness in films and on screen, true beauty of person is the result of a life of cooperation with Jesus Christ in warring against oneself and doing good to others. The character of man or woman is developed by the grace of God through bringing their lives into harmony with the principles of God revealed int he word of God. Let's look at some more of the heavenly keys to a good man's heart by which a woman may soften and improve His character and give it completeness. Here are keys 3 - 5.

3. A WIFE WHO LOVES ORDER

Sin is a disorganizer. Wherever it is cherished--in the individual heart, in the household, in the church--there is disorder. God is displeased with disorder, slackness, and a lack of thoroughness, in anyone. These deficiencies are serious evils and tend to wean the affections of the husband from the wife when the husband loves order, well-disciplined children, and a well-regulated house. A wife and mother cannot make home agreeable and happy unless she possesses a love for order, preserves her dignity, and has good government. Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. Disorder and untidiness in daily duties will lead to forgetfulness of God and to keeping the form of godliness in a profession of faith, having lost the reality. Unclean, neglected corners in the house will tend to make impure, neglected corners in the soul. Spiritual disease is the result of neglected duty. (1 Corinthians 14:40,33/Psalms 119:133/Proverbs 14:1,31:27/Isaiah 14:12,17/Matthew 12:43-45/Revelation 12:3,4,9)

4. A WIFE TO STAND BY HIS SIDE; A SAFE COUNSELOR

The wife is to stand by the side of the husband as his equal, sharing all the responsibilities of life, rendering due respect to him who has selected her for his lifelong companion. Woman should fill the position which God originally designed for her, as her husband's equal. The wife can be a comfort, a blessing, standing by the side of her husband as his safe counselor, her influence keeping him to the right, to honesty and purity and godliness. If she will elevate her affections, and in sanctification and honor preserve her refined, womanly dignity, woman can do much by her judicious influence to sanctify her husband, and thus fulfill her high mission. In so doing she can save both her husband and herself, thus performing a double work. (1 Corinthians 7:3,4,14/1 Peter 3:7/Proverbs 18:22/Genesis 2:24/Mark 10:8)

5. A WOMAN TO APPRECIATE AND RETURN HIS LOVE

My beloved is mine, and I am his. I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine. Love cannot long exist without expression. A man's love may be sacredly bestowed, but if it is not sacredly appreciated and reciprocated it will die a natural death. Love is a plant of heavenly growth, and it must be fostered and nourished. While the wife should lean on her husband with respect and deference, she can in a wholesome, healthful way, manifest her strong affection for and confidence in the man she has chosen as her life companion. The reason why there are so many hardhearted men and women in the world is that true affection has been regarded as weakness, and has been discouraged and repressed. (Song of Solomon 2:16,6:3/Proverbs 27:5/Matthew 24:12/Titus 2:4/Ephesians 4;15)

A GOOD MAN - WIN HIM AND KEEP HIM - 12 KEYS TO HIS HEART - Marriage Counseling With The Wonderful Counselor Part - XV

Ladies, it will require more than a Hollywood movie script to win a really good man and keep him. And if you already have a good man, there is always a way to help him be even better. To soften and improve his character and give it completeness will require guidance from the One who made the man. We're talking about the Creator - a loving heavenly Father who is willing to share in simple words the ways in which the godly good man can be won to your side and remain there.

WHAT A MAN/HUSBAND NEEDS -12 KEYS TO HIS HEART
WIN HIM AND KEEP HIM

1. A HAPPY HOME

A man without the blessings of a happy home, is deprived of an influence that would stimulate and strengthen him. Many of the diseases from which men suffer are the result of mental depression. Mental depression causes dyspepsia (upset stomach), and this aggravates the mental disorder. The brain is the capital of the body, the seat of all the nervous forces and of mental action. The nerves proceeding from the brain control the body. By the brain nerves, mental impressions are conveyed to all the nerves of the body as by telegraph wires; and they control the vital action of every part of the system. All the organs of motion are governed by the communications they receive from the brain. The brain nerves which communicate to the entire system are the only medium through which Heaven can communicate to man, and affect his inmost life. Tired nerves need rest and quiet. Nature needs time to recuperate her exhausted energies. Firm, quiet nerves and a healthy circulation help men to follow right principles and to listen to the promptings of conscience. A man's energy and success, as well as his happiness, depends, to a great degree, upon the character of his home. If a right influence is found there he can bravely encounter trials and discouragements without. His home is his haven of rest. But if there is discord at home, the tired nerves find no relief. The mind is subject to a constant tension, to preserve calmness and self-control. (Job 5:24/Isaiah 26:3,32:17,18/Proverbs 3:33,17:21,21:19,25:24,27:15/1 Timothy 6:6,8/Ecclesiastes 4:6/1 Corinthians 9:27)

2. A WIFE WHO HELPS HIM TO MAINTAIN HIS DIGNITY

Men were not created to be subject to poverty, disease and suffering, not for thoughtless inattention to their physical and spiritual wants, but for dignity, purity and elevation of character in this life, and for joy unspeakable and full of glory in the future immortal life. The husband comes home from his labor weary and perplexed, and meets a clouded brow instead of cheerful, encouraging words. He is but human, and his affections become weaned from his wife, he loses the love of his home, his pathway is darkened, and his courage destroyed. He yields his self-respect and that dignity which God requires him to maintain. The husband is the head of the family, as Christ is the head of the church, and any course which the wife may pursue to lessen his influence and lead him to come down from the dignified, responsible position God would have him occupy, displeases God. (Ephesians 1:3-5,3:9-11/2 Timothy 1:9,10/Romans 2:7/Isaiah 35:3/Revelation 3:2/Proverbs 14:1,31:12)

HOW TO BE A DUMMY - DON'T EXERCISE - Health Instead of Disease Series #4

Science often makes strides in catching up to the counsel and advice of the Creator. Exercise is one of God's 8 laws of health and the benefits obtained in obedience to these laws is being discovered all the time. At the same time, Hollywood is making fortunes in profits from movies which poke fun at those who may have a little more weight than they might need and who are generally but sincerely ignorant of the laws of health. The Bible commends and encourages the person who recognizes the need to exercise. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. (Proverbs 24:5) The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. (Habakkuk 3:19)

A Christian author who saw the connection between health and religious experience shared the following valuable insight regarding exercise more than 100 years ago.

In order for the brain to have clearness and strength of thought, retentive memory, and mental power, the muscles of the body should have exercise a portion of each day in order to preserve and improve health. {HR/M11873 par. 5}

The whole body is designed for action; and unless the physical powers are kept in health by active exercise, the mental powers cannot long be used to their highest capacity. {Ed 207.2}

AND WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE WOULD BE THE BEST EXERCISE FOR THE MIND ?

There is no exercise that can take the place of walking . By it the circulation of the blood is greatly improved. . . . Walking , in all cases where it is possible, is the best remedy for diseased bodies, because in this exercise all of the organs of the body are brought into use.-- T., V. III, p. 78. {HL 129. 5}

Without proper exercise, the mind cannot be sharp and will eventually grow weaker in power. This information is not new but now studies are confirming these words of wisdom concerning exercise, walking and the mind.

Studies show excercise is the best way to keep mind sharp- http://www.9wsyr.com/content/family_healthcast/story/Studies-show-excercise-is-the-best-way-to-keep/vl5AMhzDh0ip2G3yafExQA.cspx

While it is true that there are many wonderful exercise programs and facilities which offer more than a walking experience, none are as simple or more natural than the one which our Creator included with the package of human anatomy we each own. Some people are more inclined to feel the need for additional equipment in order to complete their exercise regimen. Others may utilize tools to help with an aggressive strength building or weight loss routine. We are free to choose; but if all you want to do is make sure your mind stays sharp, walking will do just fine.

Try the 8 laws of health that God has revealed in His word. It may save you some time if you're waiting for science to discover what's best for your health.

Here are the 3 steps to be taken for the restoration of health.

1. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained.

2. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected.
